With more Koreans raising pet dogs than ever before, the Rural Development Administration has developed a variety of dog food that can be made easily at home. Here’s more.

Pet dogs show their affection by reacting to every touch and movement of their owner. Since they're part of the family, their owner cares a great deal about what they eat.

[Soundbite] Lee Jang-mi(Dog owner) : "Oftentimes pre-made food isn't suitable for my dogs. I even went to a dog food factory, but the facilities were outdated."

The Rural Development Administration has developed convenient homemade dog food by adding nutrients like minerals and vitamins to about ten different food ingredients. No preservatives such as anti-fungal agents or oxidization suppressants have been used in the mix. The lab has even confirmed its health-improving effects. Pet owners are relieved to see how the RDA-developed dog food differs from some dog food made with grain byproducts and proteins from dubious origins.

[Soundbite] Kim Byeong-sik(Dog owner) : "My dog threw up some dog food, so it would be nice to have homemade dog food."

The RDA plans to transfer the dog food ingredient processing technology to a private business to expand the distribution of homemade dog food.
