With the opening of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics 50 days away, the International Olympic Committee put the spotlight on world figure skating champion Kim Yu-na, a symbol of South Korea's winter sports. Though she’s retired, and will not compete at the games, her legacy lives on.

Kim Yu-na won a gold medal in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, demonstrating unrivaled techniques and skills. Known as the figure skating queen in Korea, her skating was perfect and enough to fascinate sports fans around the world. The International Olympic Committee recently re-introduced Kim Yu-na on the main page of its Website by posting a video of her past performances. The IOC said that Kim left an undeniable mark on the history of the Olympic Winter Games, thanks mainly to her exploits at Vancouver 2010, where she scored a world record of 228.56 points in winning South Korea's first-ever figure skating gold medal. It also explained that Kim's world-class skating techniques and graceful movements touched the hearts of many people. The IOC's Olympic Channel re-introduced on Monday a gala performance by Kim in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia, calling it fantastic. Kim mesmerizingly skated to John Lenon's Imagine at the gala exhibition, her final Olympic stage, and retired from the ice rink following the Sochi Games.
