The Korea Economic Research Institute said Tuesday that data compiled from March to June shows that what's called the employment inducement coefficient in the tourism sector has dropped by 119-thousand people. This is because foreign tourists to Korea plunged 99% year-on-year to just over 52-thousand during the past 4 months. By sector, retail and wholesale reportedly recorded the sharpest loss of some 60-thousand people.
Budget airline T'way Air has announced it is resuming a regular once a week flight to the Chinese city of Wuhan, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak, starting Wednesday. The route was suspended in January and the resumption comes after 8 months. The Chinese government is allowing weekly flights for airlines which have been issued quarantine verification certificates. If there is no coronavirus case reported on certain flight routes for 3 weeks, Beijing is allowing airlines to add flights.
