The US government has taken the stance that the Korea-US alliance remains unchanged despite political uncertainties in Seoul. Washington says it's also speeding up efforts to deploy the antimissile THAAD battery in Korea.
The US Defense Department has said the future fate of Korean President Park Geun-hye will not affect the deployment in Korea of the U.S. Terminal High Altitude Air Defense system known as THAAD. The department said the THAAD deployment remains ongoing and the bilateral alliance continues to move forward with that plan.
