KBS has been awarded for its contribution to the advancement of Asia's broadcasting culture at one of the most prestigious TV awards in Asia. Here’s more.
The Asian Television Awards are often referred to as Asia's Emmy Awards. A singer from Singapore sings the Korean theme song for the mega hit Korean TV series "Descendants of the Sun." After awards for the documentary and news program categories were bestowed, KBS President Go Dae-young was called to the stage to receive the Award for Outstanding Contribution to Asian Television. The KBS dramas "Descendants of the Sun" and "Love in the Moonlight" were immensely popular among Asian viewers this year. KBS has been recognized for contributing to the advancement of Asian broadcasting culture and reigniting the Hallyu or Korean Wave phenomenon which first began with the blockbuster KBS series "Winter Sonata" back in 2002.

The Asian Television Awards ceremony hosted by Singapore since 1996 is watched by some 300 million viewers each year. "Descendants of the Sun" has made it to the final round in the drama category whose winners will be announced Friday night.
