A celebration for foreign students in Korea was held in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do Province. The festival was an opportunity to promote the region's charms to young people from around the globe.

Foreign students are welcomed with an exciting percussion and dance performance based on the myth of Gogunsangundo Islands in waters off Jeollabuk-do Province. In return, students from 20 countries around the globe dressed up in their respective traditional costumes to proudly showcase their cultures. College students from the Philippines, China, and Vietnam put on their own traditional performances to fire up the atmosphere. Korean college students captured the international students' attention with their disciplined and dynamic taekwondo routines. Then, Korean and foreign students mixed a giant bowl of bibimbap, an act of sharing different cultures and strengthening friendships.

[Soundbite] Sophia(Student from Georgia) : "It was nice to see many people coming together to introduce their own cultures to one another."

Roughly 5,000 students attended the International Students Festival held in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do Province. This is the first time that foreign students from all over Korea gathered in one place. Through this festival, Jeollabuk-do Province was able to show that it's the region where Korean culture and traditions remain alive and well.

[Soundbite] Yoon Myeong-sook(Professor, Chonbuk Nat'l Univ.) : "It's meaningful for the Jeollabuk-do region to hold the nation's first festival for the spiking population of international students."

In marking the Visit Jeonbuk Year, this grand party for international students in Korea served as a venue for cultural exchanges and promotion of Jeollabuk-do province's charms.
