Police say that the arrested liberal blogger and former member of the ruling Democratic Party known online as “Druking” sent thousands of messages containing links to online articles to DP lawmaker Kim Kyoung-soo in March alone. However, the lawmaker is not believed to have actually read the messages.

According to police investigation, the former party member and blogger surnamed Kim who goes by the online alias "Druking" operated two chat rooms when he sent messages over the Telegram messaging application to ruling Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Kyoung-soo. One of the chat rooms was a regular chat room that mainly included photos of events hosted by Representative Kim. A total of 32 messages were sent to this chat room since it was opened in November 2016 up until this January which was the last time Kim checked the messages. Kim had at times left perfunctory replies of "thank you." The second chat room was a secret chat room with high security features where taking screenshots is not possible. In this chat room, Druking sent 115 messages to the lawmaker just over 18 days last month. The messages contain some 31-hundred URLs of online articles posted on portal sites the blogger is believed to have been active with. But the police confirmed the lawmaker did not check these messages. This is why investigators believe that communication between the two was one-sided, and not back and forth, as Druking was mainly the one sending out messages. However the police said the findings so far are based on the analysis of only parts of chat conversations found from the blogger's mobile phone, and added that a wider investigation is necessary.
