The first memorial ceremony organized by the government has been held to honor the 304 victims of the Sewol ferry disaster four years after it happened. The ceremony began with a moment of silence. Some five thousand people including the bereaved families and government officials attended the ceremony. The government officials once again stressed that the truth behind the tragedy must be found. The bereaved families urged the government to identify the exact cause of the sinking and restore the victims' honor.

[Soundbite] Jeon Myung-sun(Representative of Sewol Ferry Victims' Bereaved Families) : "We must stand up against those who let so many precious lives and Korea as a country sink, and restore the honor of those who helped Korea rise up and saved it."

Four years after one of the worst disasters in Korea's history, the altar in Ansan will be removed and a commemorative park dedicated to the victims will be created.
