The possibility of the South and North Korea hosting their first ever joint Olympics on the Korean Peninsula for the 2032 Summer Games seems to be rising. Sports officials of South and North Korea will hold a trilateral meeting with the International Olympic Committee on the 15th, and make their first step in the joint bid.

Sports officials of the two Koreas will gather here at the International Olympic Committee headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland. Sports Minister Do Jong-hwan and his North Korean counterpart Kim Il-guk will hold talks with IOC President Thomas Bach. They will discuss fielding joint inter-Korean teams for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the two Koreas' joint bid to host the 2032 Olympics in Seoul and Pyongyang. A joint Korean team competed in women's ice hockey at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics a year ago. Inter-Korean teams for the Olympic Games will now be sought for the second time. On February 15th, the two Koreas will sit down with IOC President Thomas Bach for a trilateral meeting. The two Koreas are set to officially submit a letter of intent for their joint bid to host the 2032 Summer Games, thereby launching the bidding process. When the inter-Korean summit declaration was announced last September indicating a push for a joint Olympic bid, the IOC president had welcomed the move.
