Korea will start providing 5G communication services this year. That means huge amounts of data can be transmitted almost instantly. Here are some changes that can be expected with the coming of the 5G era.

A communications company employee arrives at her office. A camera equipped with artificial intelligence technology recognizes her face and the gate is opened automatically. Her ID card is no longer needed. Once in the office, she sits wherever she wants and connects her smartphone to a shared computer to turn it into her personal work space. This is the nation's first smart office operated by a mobile communications service provider. It is possible to hold a holographic meeting just like in the movies. They can all see three-dimensional blueprints as well as large video files. There is also a frequency-based wireless charging system, making it possible for employees to charge their devices anywhere in the office. The employees can drink coffee brewed by a robot and the unmanned vending machine equipped with AI technology and a camera is capable of recognizing who bought what and ringing it up immediately.

[Soundbite] Jo Ik-hwan(ICT Technology Center, SK Telecom) : "A 5G smart office has networks in all areas. The network enables members to access and deliver large volumes of data anywhere anytime."

Smart office that combines 5G services and artificial intelligence may satisfy the corporate demand for improved productivity from its workforce.
