Extradition Lawsuit

Chung Yoo-ra, the daughter of Choi Soon-sil, has filed an objection to the Dutch prosecutors' decision to extradite her to Korea. A lawsuit over the extradition is now inevitable but the case has hit a snag with the sudden death of Chung’s attorney.

Chung Yoo-ra, who is currently under detention in Denmark, has been found to have filed an objection to court over the prosecutors' decision to repatriate her to Korea. Chung's attorney, Martin Blinkenberg, filed an objection to the Aalborg District Court and launched a lawsuit on March 17 right after the decision to repatriate her was made. But local media reported that the 46-year-old Blinkenberg was found dead in his house later that day. The exact cause of death is still unknown. Up until his death, Blinkenberg was strongly determined to win the suit.

Chung Yoo-ra will likely be represented by another attorney from Blinkenberg's law firm or her previous attorney, Jan Schneider. If Chung appeals to the Supreme Court, it normally takes about six months until the final verdict is reached. But as Chung needs to find a new attorney, her lawsuit will likely take longer than usual.
