A private U.S. security think tank has released a report examining the operational scenario of striking down North Korea's nuclear facilities. North Korea has responded angrily to the report. Here’s more.

Stratfor, a U.S. think tank specializing in security affairs, says that in order to deter North Korea's nuclear ambition, more focus should be given to military means over sanctions. The firm has released a report detailing a strike operation against North Korean facilities. The report cited the Yongbyon nuclear facility, construction site of a nuclear reactor in Taechon, and a uranium mine as key striking targets. Also mentioned as targets are North Korea's key missile assets that carry nuclear weapons as well as the bomber which can drop nuclear bombs. The Stratfor report said that if and when the United States deal a precision strike against the North's nuclear facilities, ten B-2 bombers and 24 F-22 fighter jets would be mobilized as key combat assets. In an unusual move, Pyongyang has strongly protested the report. Its foreign ministry spokesman said that it's clear evidence the U.S. is seriously reviewing a preemptive attack on North Korea. With presidential elections scheduled in the U.S. and South Korea this and next year, North Korea is expected to further reinforce its nuclear armament. A growing number of experts calls for stringent response measures.
