The Korea-China co-production "Bounty Hunters" starring actor Lee Min-ho premiered in China on July 1. It's a comic action movie about people who seek monetary rewards by hunting fugitives across borders. The film raked in 50 million yuan, or 7.5 million U.S. dollars, on the day of its release in China. It also ranked first in terms of ticket sales, while its box office share surpassed 26 percent. So far it has been screened in Chinese theaters 52,000 times. "Bounty Hunters," which has taken Lee Min-ho's Chinese fans by storm, is soon to be released in eight other countries including the U.K., Australia and Vietnam. The TV show "Sisters' Slam Dunk" features six members searching for their dreams.
[Soundbite] Min Hyo-rin(Actress) : "I want to try my skills as a girl group member because it has been my dream since I was eight."
The members decided to help their fellow, actress Min Hyo-rin, to debut as a singer because it was her long-cherished dream. After two months of strenuous efforts and rehearsals, Min Hyo-rin finally made an official debut on the KBS show "Music Bank." The members put up an impressive performance on par with a popular K-pop group. The footage of their performance went viral on the Internet. The boy band Beast released their third studio album on July 4. Beast's new album contains two title songs. Both of them are sentimental ballads. It's quite unprecedented for an idol group to make a comeback with a mellow ballad. Another K-pop group that has prepared a surprise comeback is the Wonder Girls. Last year, the Wonder Girls transformed into a band with each of its members playing instruments themselves instead of performing dance songs. This time, they decided to try their hand at reggae pop, which is not regarded to be a mainstream genre in Korea. Many veteran idol singers are willing to make new endeavors in their music careers these days.
