President Park Geun-hye returned home after visiting Mongolia for five days to attend the Asia-Europe Summit Meeting and the Korea-Mongolia summit. Prior to her return, she met with Mongolian chairman of its national assembly and Prime Minister to ask for their involvement in broadening bilateral exchanges. At a business forum the Korean president gave encouraging words to the businessmen from both countries and called for increases in trade and investment.

[Soundbite] Pres. Park Geun-hye : "You can be called the modern-day Genghis Kahn for pioneering global markets and the expansion of economic territories."

During this trip President Park focused on the resolution of North Korea's nuclear issues and economic diplomacy. Through her keynote speech at the ASEM Summit, she emphasized that the fundamental solution to the North Korean nuclear and human rights issue is the unification of the Korean Peninsula. Her crowning achievement at the summit was drawing out the chairman's statement that North Korea's nuclear and missile programs are to be condemned with the strongest terms. Also, her proposal to open next year's ASEM Economic Ministers' Meeting in Seoul won support from member nations. At the bilateral summit President Park and her Mongolian counterpart agreed to launch economic cooperation projects worth roughly 4.4 billion U.S. dollars and concluded 20 memorandums of understanding. Now that she is back in Korea after her visit to Mongolia, she is likely to focus on resolving domestic issues.
