A passenger infected with the zombie virus secretly boards a bullet train bound for Busan. Other passengers scramble to get away from him to survive. The movie "Train to Busan" received rave reviews at the Cannes film festival back in May as the best midnight screening.

[Soundbite] Kong Yu(Actor) : "It was lauded in Cannes for standing out from typical Hollywood movies about zombies. I would be extremely happy if this movie receives a positive response in Korea as well."

Despite initial concerns that the movie may not have strong special effects to portray the zombies because the subject had never been tackled by a Korean film before, "Train to Busan" has earned acclaim for makeup, the portrayal of the running train and other visual effects, with quality exceeding all expectations. The scene showing a crowd of zombies rushing in all at once, known as the "zombie pyramid scene," is the highlight of the movie. The cast say that this movie stands out not only for its scale but also for its uniquely Korean dramatic plot.

[Soundbite] Ma Dong-seok(Actor) : "This genre hasn't been tackled much in Korea, but it has a dramatic plot that can move people's hearts. So viewers can enjoy both these elements at once."

A red carpet event organized ahead of the opening of "Train to Busan" was also a success. Its premium premiere audience share reached 95 percent, attesting to its huge success. "Train to Busan" is highly credited for contributing to the competitiveness of Korean movies by handling the zombie genre in a uniquely Korean way.
