Ham Sang-myeong, the only Korean boxer competing at the Rio Olympics, is off to a good start. He has won by decision in the round of 32 in the 56 kilogram bantamweight class. Here's the current medal tally.

The United States still leads, followed by China. Japan meanwhile is maintaining third place with seven gold medals, two silver medals and 13 bronze. Korean archer Chang Hye-jin has won her second gold in Rio in the women's individual event after clinching the women's team gold earlier. Teammate Ki Bo-bae, who won gold in the team event, grabbed a bronze in the individual competition, therefore failing in her bid to win gold medals in back-to-back Olympics. Now Team Korea has risen to fifth in the medal count with five gold, two silver and four bronze medals. Germany added two gold medals in rowing and one in shooting to jump to ninth place in the medal rankings with four gold, three silver and a bronze. Germany is trailed by Italy and France.
