Spicy marinated chicken known as "dakgalbi", topped with a generous portion of vegetables, is cooked in a large pan. There is a long line of customers waiting to try this mouth-watering delicacy. In no time, 100 servings of dakgalbi are sold out. Sweet and sour buckwheat noodles, or "makguksu" is prepared right on the spot. It's perfect in the scorching weather.

[Soundbite] Cha Yun-ja(Visitor) : "We like to have Chuncheon makguksu in Hwaseong as well. But it tastes better here. That's why I came here today."

Visitors can even try making noodles first-hand according to the traditional method.

[Soundbite] "Do you know what we're making? No. It's makguksu."

Families consisting of several generations are engrossed in making their own noodles, which are later cooked in a cast iron pot. A 130,000-square-meter buckwheat field that was created in time for the festival is blanketed in white buckwheat blossoms. Visitors take in the simple bucolic landscape of Gangwon-do Province by strolling in the field and taking pictures.

[Soundbite] Choi Young-eun(Visitor) : "The blossoms are beautiful and the weather is nice. It's a perfect place to spend time with your family."

The Chuncheon Dakgalbi and Makguksu Festival will continue until August 28th.
