A man-made full moon measuring 20 meters in diameter appeared on Seokchon Lake in Seoul. Here’s more on the appeal of public art, presenting eye-catching attractions in our daily lives.

Something is being inflated above a lake in the darkness. It's the "Super Moon," a large, manmade full moon measuring 20 meters in diameter. Its closed eyes and adorable expression come into view in bright light. This inflatable sculpture was inspired by the Korean tradition of wishing upon the moon and the ancient folk tale of a rabbit pounding rice on the moon.
[Soundbite] Samuel Borkson(Public Artist)
There was a similar project in 2014 in which a giant rubber duck brought smiles to visitors' faces. This is the second public art project held at Seokchon Lake in Seoul. People are delighted by the unexpected artwork which has shown up in their daily lives. They stop in their tracks and even take pictures with the Super Moon to remember the moment.
[Soundbite] Lee Jeong-hyeon(Seoul Resident) : "It looks cute with its eyes closed. It's great to take pictures with the moon, and the lake is a good place to take a walk with my friends."
The Super Moon project will continue until early October in Korea before it is taken on a world tour exhibition in the United States and other countries.
