The U.N. Security Council will convene a trilateral emergency meeting at the strong request of South Korea, the U.S. and Japan to discuss North Korea's missile test. The meeting will begin in the early hours of September 7 Korean time. The Security Council unanimously adopted a press statement condemning Pyongyang's four missile launches conducted in July and August. The U.S. State Department has issued a statement and said it would bring up the issue of North Korea's missile firings at the U.N. and the East Asia Summit, which will begin on September 6. It added that it will strengthen the global community's determination to hold Pyongyang accountable for its provocative acts and ballistic missile development, which pose a threat not only to the U.S., Japan and South Korea but also to private aircrafts and ships.
