Gyeongju residents found it hard to calm their nerves after another strong quake hit the region last night. Some spent a sleepless night at the city's civic stadium.

Hundreds of Gyeongju residents gathered at Gyeongju Civic Stadium Monday night when another earthquake hit the region. They came here in fear of secondary damages from an earthquake that occurred only a week after the first. However, most returned home after receiving a text message from the city's Disaster and Safety Headquarters instructing them to do so at around 11:20 PM. About a dozen residents spent the night where they were, sleeping uncomfortably in their cars. They continue to keep a close watch on the situation, as they have not yet fully recovered from the psychological impact of last week's earthquake. The governments of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province and the city of Gyeongju as well as related government agencies including the Cultural Heritage Administration are assessing damage and doing everything possible to prevent casualties.
