Bereaved family members carefully place flowers in front of a photograph of the deceased. Mourners sob quietly at the somber funeral. Firefighter Park Hyeon-woo was declared brain dead after suffering a traffic accident while inspecting equipment by the roadside on September 21st. He passed away on the 26th without regaining consciousness. But Park gave new life to four patients suffering from incurable diseases by donating his heart, liver, and kidneys. It was what he had always wanted to do.

[Soundbite] Park Seong-taek(Father of the late Park Hyeon-woo) : "He wanted to fulfill his responsibility as a firefighter until the end by giving new lives to other people."

Park lived a happy life, looking forward to his wedding next April. But at work he was known for his steely determination.

[Soundbite] Yeom Cheol-min(Anmyeon 119 Safety Center, Taean Firehouse) : "He had a strong sense of responsibility, so much so that he would be the first one in and the last one out in emergency calls."

A few weeks ago, a young man named Ahn Chi-beom died after saving his neighbors from a burning building. Heroes like Ahn and firefighter Park, who sacrificed their lives for others, are inspirations to our community.
