We return to the shocking Wednesday evening shooting in Seoul, in which ordinary citizens chased down and helped apprehend the shooter. Their brave actions amid the flying bullets helped prevent an even worse outcome.

The shooter, who had confronted the police next to Opaesan Tunnel, is finally subdued and led out of the bushes. Three ordinary citizens, including 56-year-old Kim Gwang-yun, were among those who caught the shooter. When they heard gunshots they ran toward the shooter without thinking of their safety.
[Soundbite] Jo Gang-hee(Resident) : "Three or four people subdued him and were holding him tight. The shooter was bleeding from his nose."
It was a dangerous situation with the shooter having taken cover among the bushes and taking shots. It was also an ordinary citizen who had followed the shooter and notified the police of his position.
[Soundbite] "Go up to the roof, to the roof. You have to go up to the roof."
Lee Dae-beom, who runs a store near the crime scene, kept following the shooter while talking with the police on the phone since the shooting first started, lending a big hand in apprehending him. Kim Jong-ho picked up the electronic ankle bracelet cut off by the shooter and even performed emergency treatment on the police lieutenant, the late Kim Chang-ho, who had gotten shot.
[Soundbite] Kim Jong-ho(Resident) : "I was pressing down on the wound with my hand, but it kept bleeding. So I asked for help from another man and kept others from coming this way, because it was too dangerous."
The actions of these brave and composed citizens helped prevent even deadlier incidents.
