Jeonju Hanok Village is drawing attention for new village mascots, a wind and percussion band and a police squad consisting of senior citizens. Take a look.

This splendid wind and percussion band leading a procession to mark the enshrinement of a king's portrait consists of senior citizens of Jeonjucity in Jeollabuk-do Province. The playfully-named "youth wind and percussion band" comprising 50 senior citizens performs at the Jeonju Hanok Village and also helps out with local festivals.

[Soundbite] Seong Sun-dal(71/Jeonju-based "Youth Wind & Percussion Band") : "This is a success. What an honor to play the double-headed drum at a gathering of over 500 people."

A solemn-faced traditional police squad dressed in Joseon era uniforms is conducting patrols at the Jeonju Hanok Village. Providing enjoyable memories to visiting tourists, this team is also comprised of local senior citizens.

[Soundbite] Shin Hee-seon(Tourist) : "The elders are wearing old garments. It feels like time-travel. It's a great sight for my children to witness."

It's rewarding for the elder participants, as they can work and take on a helpful role for the village at the same time.

[Soundbite] Choi Jeong-gyu(78/"Senior Police Squad," Jeonju Hanok Village) : "I'm young at heart. I want to work even harder to please tourists who come from around the world."

The elderly wind and percussion band and police squad are emerging as memorable mascots of the famed hanok village.
