An anti-smoking advertisement featuring a man afflicted with oral cancer due to years of smoking went on air on Thursday. In the advertisement, the man, who has lost a third of this tongue, says if he could turn back time, he would never smoke again.
[Soundbite] "I have lost one-third of my tongue. I developed oral cancer after 32 years of smoking."

The man giving his testimony in this television ad is 55-year-old Lim Hyun-yong.It's the first such advertisement to go on air in Korea in 14 years. He began to smoke at the age of 20, and smoked one-and-a-half packs of cigarettes daily. But after 32 years of smoking he developed oral cancer.
[Soundbite] Lim Hyun-yong(Alias/Oral Cancer Patient) : "If I could go back in time, I would never have started to smoke."
He lost a third of his tongue to oral cancer, and had part of his hip transplanted to his tongue. He cannot speak articulately, and swallowing food is an ordeal for him.
[Soundbite] Lim Hyun-yong(Alias/Oral Cancer Patient) : "The hardest part was crying while eating. My food was mixed with my tears."
This man is still undergoing treatment, but he agreed to appear in the anti-smoking advertisement to raise awareness about the dangerous effects of smoking on one's health.
[Soundbite] Lim Hyun-yong(Alias/Oral Cancer Patient) : "I hope that this will inspire others to stop smoking to prevent the kind of suffering I have gone through."
This testimonial about the health risks of smoking will be aired on television for three months.
