Two South Korean women in their 20s were raped by a taxi driver in Taiwan. The driver gave them spiked drinks in order to commit his crime. Here’s more.

Taiwanese media reported that two South Korean college students in their early 20s had been raped by a local taxi driver. The incident happened on January 12th at around 6 p.m. when the women used a taxi cab operated by a local taxi tour company to get to the Shilin night market in Taipei. The taxi driver handed yogurt to three Korean tourists in his car. Two of them drank it and fell asleep. While the woman who did not drink the beverage was at the market, the taxi driver raped the other two women who were asleep in the taxi. The women realized that they had been raped when they woke up at their hotel the following day. They posted a message on a travel blog and reported the case to local police.

The Taiwanese police summoned the taxi driver on January 13th to obtain his testimony and arrested him as a suspect. Medical tests have revealed that the victims' blood contained a sleeping drug. Korean police are looking into the results of the local police investigation via the Taipei Mission in Korea. Last year, some 800,000 Koreans visited Taiwan. Most of them are presumed to have used taxis to tour the country.
