A few days ago we reported about the murder of a Korean entrepreneur by police officers in the Philippines. The local police are investigating the matter following the discovery of additional evidence that the Philippines police have committed armed robbery on other Korean nationals in the country.

Several clues point to the possibility that local police in the Philippines might have committed armed robbery on a Korean national residing in the country. Philippine National Police chief Ronald Dela Rosa told reporters that the regional police chief of Angeles City had confirmed that there was another criminal case targeting a South Korean national. Dela Rosa said that armed robbery was committed on a Korean national in December last year and that the victim had survived. The national police chief added that the regional police agency is investigating the case to find out if local police was involved. If the crime is found to have been committed by local police officers, it will likely have serious repercussions. Back in October, a Korean entrepreneur in his 50s was kidnapped by the local police in Angeles City and murdered inside the police agency. The perpetrators concealed their crime and demanded a ransom of over one-hundred thousand U.S. dollars from the victim's family. The Philippine prosecutors have indicted seven local police officers on the charges of kidnapping and murder, but it wasn't enough to quell the controversy, as a high-ranking officer who is suspected to have masterminded the crime said that he just followed the instructions of his boss.
