Hollywood's Marvel Studios has officially announced that it will shoot scenes for one of its upcoming films at the South Korean port city of Busan. Let’s find out more.

Marvel Studios has recently featured its first black superhero, the "Black Panther" on film. The studio announced that it has selected Korea as a filming location for the upcoming Black Panther movie. The decision was motivated by Busan's awe-inspiring nightscape and active efforts to attract the studio. Anticipation is running high among Busan residents, as the city's major tourist destinations, such as Gwangandaegyo Bridge and Jagalchi Market, will be featured in the movie.
[Soundbite] Park Jeong-hyun(Busan Resident) : "As a fan of Marvel, I feel great anticipation. I hope Busan's charm will be featured in the movie."
However, several concerns have been raised as well. The Hollywood blockbuster "Avengers: Age of Ultron" was also filmed in Seoul in the spring of 2014. Nationwide interest was so high that even traffic was blocked off for filming, but many expressed disappointment that Seoul was little more than a brief backdrop once the movie was released. Later, it became known that the film's producers received a refund of over 2.3 million dollars out of its filming costs of nearly 8.7 million dollars in Seoul, based on a Korean government support project. That's why concerns are mounting that the studio could again simply enjoy the benefits of shooting in Busan, such as refunds on production expenses and easy traffic control. Amid this mixed response, filming will begin in late March and take place over a period of about two weeks. The movie will premiere in February 2018.
