Industrial robotic arms have come out of the factory and appeared on a stage. Next, we will bring you some scenes from a dance performance that depicts the relationship between humans and robots.

A man is confined in darkness. A ray of light appears from nowhere and awakens him. The man follows the light to find an industrial robot. His curiosity piqued by its lifelike features, he attempts to communicate with the machine. Communication takes place through music...The man next teaches the machine gestures... The robot learns what the motions mean. Finally, the two join together to dance. The robot learns human emotions. It then enlightens people who have become tools of modern industrial society. This performance, with its theme of communication between humans and robots, was created by Taiwanese dancer Huang Yi. The dancer himself learned computer programming to express the movements of a robotic arm. He worked for more than ten hours to express a minute's worth of robotic movement.

[Soundbite] Huang Yi(Taiwanese Dancer) : "In the future, I think that humans and robots will form relationships of coexistence, not competition. This is the theme that I want to share with the audience through this performance."

The performance is an elaborate combination of art and engineering. Through bodily gestures, the dancer presents the direction which cutting-edge technology should follow.
