Even if all goes as planned in the operation to lift the Sewol, it will take at least eight days to transport it to Mokpo New Port. Here's more on the salvage schedule of the Sewol ferry.

[Pkg]

Once the Sewol ferry is lifted from the water, its transportation to a port will begin. The first stage involves firmly fixing the ferry onto a jacking barge with steel cables. The jacking barge will then transport the Sewol ferry to a safe area where a semi-submersible ship is waiting. It will take three full days to load the Sewol ferry on the semi-submersible ship. It will also take one day to remove the ferry from the jacking barge and empty all the ballast water inside, and three more days to extract ballast water from the semi-submersible ship in order to make it float. The final task is transporting the Sewol ferry in the semi-submersible ship to Mokpo New Port located 87km away. If the ship moves at an average speed of 4-5 knots for over 10 hours, the Sewol ferry will be able to arrive in Mokpo New Port. The entire process will take at least eight days. More time may be needed if any unexpected circumstances occur during transportation. Once the Sewol ferry arrives in Mokpo New Port, three days will be needed to put the sunken ferry in order. It will then be unloaded. In other words, it will take at least 13 days to lift, transport and unload the ferry at the port. However, the process may take even longer due to weather conditions, such as wave height and wind velocity, as well as technical issues.
