There are some things that you know are good for you but it’s hard to put it into practice. Eating breakfast every morning is one of them. Even a modest breakfast is said to be great for your health as it helps revitalize your body after a night’s sleep.

A good meal is like good medicine for the body. But in our hectic modern lives, it's a challenge eat any meal of the day properly.

[Soundbite] Lee Hyeon-do 9Office Worker) : "It's a hurry going to work in the morning. I usually don't have time to eat."

Younger people from their teens to those in their 30s are most likely to skip breakfast.

[Soundbite] Prof. Gang Jae-heon(Inje Univ. Paik Hospital) : "If you skip breakfast, your vitality, memory and concentration can suffer when they're most needed during the day hours. Breakfast is the source to maintain health and keep up your energy level."

This is why the 'let's eat breakfast' campaign is springing up in many places. Follow us to a high school in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do Province.

[Soundbite] "Take your breakfast."

Students arriving at school receive seasoned rice and yogurt.

[Soundbite] Park Don-hee(Principal) : "Breakfast helps students perform better in class. We've held this campaign once or twice a year since 4 years ago."

Students love today's anchovy flavored rice ball. It's a hit. Students who usually skip breakfast at home enjoy eating at school with friends.

[Soundbite] Ryu Cho-yeon(High School Sophomore) : "I often skip breakfast at home. But to being served at school, I all the more recognize the importance of breakfast."

At this university cafeteria, breakfast is served from 8 a.m.

[Soundbite] Gang Jin-hyeok(Student Body President, Soonchunhyang University) : "We began the service on the belief that providing affordable and nutritious breakfast will help students' health and also their studies."

And the cost is a mere 1,000 won or less than 90 cents. The breakfast service began in 2011 and often times, the food is fancier than at home.

[Soundbite] Seo Jae-yeong(Nutritionist, Soonchunhyang University) : "Dorm students, students who live alone and those who have early classes usually come to breakfast. We compose a meal high in glucose and protein beneficial to brain activity."

Serving an affordable but healthy breakfast is a trend spreading across universities nationwide.

[Soundbite] Jeong Ye-chan(Student, Soonchunhyang University) : "I live in the dorm. I normally don't eat breakfast. But since I started eating in the cafeteria, it's become a habit."

Now let's try putting together a simple breakfast. This is a nut porridge that is filling and easy on the stomach. First peanuts, pine nuts and water are ground in the mixer. Then the mix is boiled in a pot.

[Soundbite] Kim Yeong-bin(Culinary Expert) : "Pine nuts contain amylase. So if they are not boiled and cooked right after being grated, the texture will become very thin and watery."

Rice crust is added into the porridge and finally it's seasoned with salt. It's boiled a little more until the crusted bits dissolve and the super nutritious peanut and pine nut porridge is complete! Breakfast is the fuel to wake up your brain after a long night's sleep. Don't skip it and try to make a habit of eating the first meal of the day.
