These days, Korean men in entertainment do whatever it takes to ward off any speculation they plan on dodging their military service. The trend among actors has changed so much that in case after case, young stars approach their mandatory service with enthusiasm.

Singer and actor Seo In-guk says that he underwent a reexamination by the Military Manpower Administration on Wednesday and was told he still needs further examination. Seo was enlisted last month but he was returned home in just three days over an abnormality found on his left ankle. He has since been persistent on his intent to serve in the military. He said he will wait for another physical test in June, in an apparent effort to avoid any controversy that he's trying to dodge military service. Actor Yoo Ah-in has also been vocal about wanting to serve in the Army. He received four physicals as he suffers from bone tumor. But he's also caught up in dispute as exam results from the manpower administration are being delayed. In a recent preview event for a new drama, he asked for understanding from the producers and briefed them on his health condition and related matters.
[Soundbite] Yoo Ah-in(Actor) : "I was reexamined on March 15 and haven't received the results. It's not something that can be done through willpower."
For actors, military service directly impacts their post-military career moves. Naturally, their health conditions draw particular attention. Sin Dong-wuk also began his service in 2010 but was discharged the next year over problems with his back. He could have been exempted from service but he later said that he didn't want to disappoint his fans and decided to give it a shot. More and more Korean actors are openly clarifying their stances regarding military service as it can seriously hurt their public image. This is becoming a new norm.
