KBS TV's election result prediction system "Decision K" confirmed candidate Moon Jae-in's election as president at 2:37 a.m. on Wednesday. By then, Moon had won 40.2 percent of votes. Moon led in all regions excluding Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do and Gyeongsangnam-do provinces. He achieved a landslide victory by winning the votes of people in their 50s, who supported the conservative base during the previous presidential election. President Moon's five-year tenure began on Wednesday. As soon as it became clear that he would win the election, Moon visited the situation room of the National Election Committee at the National Assembly on Tuesday night to encourage the officials. He then headed to Gwanghwamun Square to make a public address and express his gratitude.

[Soundbite] Moon Jae-in(President) : "This is a victory of the great people of this nation who joined me to build a country where common sense and principles rule."

President Moon faces a number of challenges in this difficult time for Korea, such as cooperating with the National Assembly to carry out state affairs in a stable manner, implementing reforms and uniting the divided nation.
