Korea's central regions have borne the brunt of overnight torrential rains. Roads sank in some areas and streams rose over their banks, causing inconveniences for local residents.

A concrete floor has sunk along with a manhole cover. A motorway in Yeongdeungpo-gu District in Seoul sank one-meter deep at 8:40 p.m. on Sunday. No human casualties were reported, but one car ended up being trapped in the sinkhole. The Yeongdeungpo-gu Ward Office presumes that the ground sank due to the damaged manhole. An investigation is currently underway to discover the exact cause of the accident. Residents of the inland Chungcheong area experienced inconveniences as water in a local stream rose over its banks. The entire riverbed road of Musimcheon Stream in Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do Province, was blocked as the water rose over the banks at around 7:40 p.m. on Sunday. At approximately the same time, four vehicles that were driving on a riverbed road in Daejeon were submerged in rainwater. In Anseong, Gyeonggi-do Province soil collapsed onto the National Road No. 45 at around 6:50 p.m. on Sunday. No human casualties were reported, but one car was damaged by the soil and a one-kilometer section of the road was blocked. The rain is expected continue until tomorrow. Meteorologists are urging the public to prepare for landslides and floods.
