As more and more irregularities are discovered in the hiring process at public agencies, President Moon Jae-in once again emphasized the importance of eradicating what he calls deep-rooted evils in Korean society. He instructed his administration to inspect public agencies and hold those responsible to account.

Several public agencies in Korea have been found to have committed irregularities in their hiring practices. They include Kangwon Land, the Financial Supervisory Service and Woori Bank, which hired new personnel at the request of influential figures such as members of the National Assembly. President Moon Jae-in has personally stepped in to eradicate the practice of abuse of privilege and rule-breaking.

[Soundbite] Pres. Moon Jae-in : "Public agencies have undermined fairness in our society, causing a sense of despair and betrayal in young people."

The president has instructed his administration to inspect all public agencies and hold those responsible to account as well as cancel illegal hiring. President Moon instructed his administration to overhaul hiring regulations at public and government agencies, and stressed that violators will be held to account.

[Soundbite] Pres. Moon Jae-in : "Overhaul the hiring regulations to enhance transparency and improve the monitoring system."

The presidential office has decided to devise regulations on canceling illegal hirings at state-run agencies and retrieving the bonuses of executives who are found to be involved in irregularities in the hiring process. Meanwhile, Cheong Wa Dae has decided to disclose the president's weekly work schedule on its Web site.
