In the wake of the recent death of a woman bitten by a dog belonging to boy band Super Junior member Choi Si-won's family, controversy is mounting over how to deal with dogs that bite people. Some say such dogs should be isolated or put to sleep. What’s clear is that now is the time to draw up new measures to deal with dangerous dogs.

Bleeding people are rushed to a hospital. Two hunting dogs attacked three passers-by.

[Soundbite] Victim : "The dogs were raised indoors. They were set free from their leashes inside."

One dog was shot to death on the scene and the other was isolated at an animal shelter. However, dealing with dogs that bite people depends on the situation.

[Soundbite] Choi Jeong-mi(Animal Welfare Team, Agriculture Ministry) : "Dogs that bite people are captured and returned to their owners. They can be killed during the capture if there is no other choice."

With the lack of specific standards, controversy is heating up over how to deal with the pet dog owned by Super Junior member Choi Si-won's family. Some people are insisting that the dog should be isolated or even put to death for the safety of apartment residents. However, the police investigating the case are in a dilemma, saying that there is no way to confirm whether the victim's death was caused by the dog's bite. Thiscomes after the funeral of the neighbor had already been held. It demonstrates problems arising from the lack of grounds to deal with dogs that bite people and the area of responsibility for the owners.
