The presidential office has issued a message asking the South Korean public to welcome U.S. President Donald's Trump on his upcoming visit to Korea, which will be the first state visit by an American leader in 25 years. In its message to the public, the presidential office urged the people of South Korea to give a warm welcome to U.S. President Donald Trump in line with the Korean tradition of welcoming guests. Cheong Wa Dae added that if the upcoming visit by the U.S. president goes well amid the grave security situation, South Korea and the United States will be able to take their bilateral ties to a higher level.

[Soundbite] Park Soo-hyun(Cheong Wa Dae Spokesperson) : "It is an old Korean tradition to welcome guests. The upcoming visit by the American president will reaffirm the strong alliance between our nation and the United States."

The message is construed as a request to anti-Trump protesters in Korea to cooperate in terms of security, as it will be the first state visit to Korea by an American president in 25 years. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety also issued a statement on Monday asking the public for understanding, as tight security measures may cause some inconvenience to the public during the U.S. president's stay in the country. During President Trump's two-day stay in Korea, President Moon Jae-in will begin discussions of the North Korean nuclear threat with foreign leaders. At the Korea-U.S. summit on Tuesday, the U.S. president is expected to express his support for maintaining peace on the Korean Peninsula. At the summit meeting with the Chinese president on November 10th and 11th on the sidelines of the APEC meeting in Vietnam, President Moon hopes to receive Beijing's promise to further pressure Pyongyang. During his upcoming visit to Southeast Asian nations, such as Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines, President Moon willalso seek to meet with the leaders of many nations other than South Korea's neighbors and the parties to the six-way nuclear talks.
