An event in China showcasing Korean cultural contents marks the comeback of the Korean Wave in the country – and the thawing of tensions between Seoul and Beijing over a U.S. missile defense deployment in Korea. It’s the first such event since President Moon Jae-in’s recent state visit to China. Let’s check it out.

Here, Korean cultural contents are showcased to the Chinese public. Contents firms and related agency officials crowd the event. It's only the second event since the first show in February. But compared to early this year when Korea's THAAD anti-missile deployment was causing friction with China, the atmosphere at the latest event is noticeably different. 18 Korean firms also hosted a counseling session where it was flocked by Chinese officials who poured out their questions. Talks with Chinese contents officials continued all day in various areas of film, Webtoons, computer games and broadcast content such as KBS TV dramas.

[Soundbite] Kim Rak-gyun(Korea Creative Content Agency) : "Korea is known for its planning skills. The Chinese are particularly taking interest in joint content production."

[Soundbite] (President of Chinese Entertainment Agency) : "These bilateral exchanges feel very tight-knit. I hope the two countries' relations swiftly normalize."

The first cultural exchange event held since the Korea-China presidential summit has reignited hopes for a comeback and further spread of Korean content in the Chinese market.
