Now that the leaders of the two Koreas have finally met one another and exchanged warm greetings, let’s find out what average South Koreans have to say about the summit. We ask a handful of ordinary citizens for their expectations for the first inter-Korean summit in 11 years.

[Soundbite] Ha Hyeon-joo(Restaurant Owner) : "I wish for a successful summit so that South Koreans don't feel nervous and will always look at North Korea in a brotherly way."

[Soundbite] Park Yong-deuk(84-year-old, Separated Family Member) : "I wish we can meet freely to talk, laugh and cry. Writing letters is of little use..."

[Pkg]

28-year-old Lee Seong-jin says he cooks because he wants to treat others to delicious food to their heart's content. When he was living in North Korea's Chongjin in Hamgyeongbukdo Province, his five-year-old younger sister died while she was sleeping in hunger.

[Soundbite] Lee Seong-jin(N. Korean Defector) : "If I visit my sister's tomb, I can make her a meal including potato soup and side dishes. It's my dream to do this for her one day..."

[Soundbite] Moon Hae-gyeong(Incheon Resident) : "From a mother's perspective, I hope young people can achieve their dreams through economic exchanges with the North and no longer live in anxiety. I hope we can build a great nation through mutual exchanges."

Citizens are glued to Friday's historic inter-Korean summit as they hope for lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula.
