A theme park in Ulsan that was built to promote the domestic Hanwoo beef is attracting very few visitors. The park cost a massive 12 billion won budget but it's practically left neglected. Take a look.

This a theme park built specifically to promote the native Korean Hanwoo cattle. It opened in 2016. It is located near a scenic reservoir equipped with walking trails, exhibition halls and a farmers market where visitors can buy Hanwoo beef. However, once you enter the park, it doesn't take long to find out there are very few visitors. At this particular gallery, there is not even an usher at the entrance. The inside hall is also pretty much empty. It is no different at the store where beef products are sold. Daily visitor numbers are no more than about 20. And there is a reason why business is this slow here. Even though the theme park is favorably located just off a national highway, there is no direct access road. The signpost is also not very visible.

[Soundbite] (Hanwoo Marketplace Official) : "(Don't the customers complain about the access road?) Everyone does. I heard the county office's plan to build the access road in a better way was not permitted by the Korea Expressway Corporation."

Despite this depressing situation, Ulju-gun county officials have not taken serious measures, except for improving the lighting system.

[Soundbite] Jang Myung-gi(Ulju-gun County Office) : "We are planning to install additional amenities such as a lighting system and a water fountain."

The county spent over 12 billion won in the park project aimed at promoting Hanwoo beef and boosting its consumption.
