The Consumers Electronics Show or CES, the world's largest tech show, kicked off early Wednesday in Las Vegas. Despite the name of 'consumer electronics,' the expo has long been a battle ground for the latest state of the art technology from around the world. This year, a large number of South Korean firms are also taking part. Here's a look at what products and technologies they will likely bring to the show for the world to see.

It looks like a ball, thus the name Ballie. It follows the speaker on stage. Like a pet, the ball is now held in his hands. This is an artificial intelligence robot, still under development, to eventually serve as a helper at home using its recognition software.

AI is also used to analyze one's body type and select suitable outfits. The reporter stands before a screen and a character resembling the person suddenly pops up. The AI tries putting various clothes on the model. It scans your body type and finds the best fitting outfit. No need to try them on in real life. The character does that for you and shows how different the clothes will look on you. AI can also adjust lighting and temperature levels at home depending on the freshness of vegetables. This way, growing veggies at home becomes easier and more efficient. The television set, the conventional home appliance, has also evolved. Users can freely enlarge the TV monitor just by inserting a block piece of the screen. This is made possible thanks to micro LED technology which emits lights on its own. Here you see another novel product, a roll-down TV. The screen literally rolls down from above. The competition to achieve higher resolution has become more fierce with the application of AI.

[Soundbite] BAEK SEON-PIL(LG ELECTRONICS) : "The AI can tell people apart from the background, so it can produce a definition quality that makes viewers focus more on the person."

The theme of this year's CES is "AI in everyday life." A record number of 353 Korean firms are taking part this year. Korea is taking the place of Chinese firms whose participation is lackluster amid the U.S.-China trade war. Anticipation builds as to how people will respond to Korean tech and goods that are in the spotlight in Las Vegas.
