The Bank of Korea held an emergency monetary meeting this afternoon presided by Senior Deputy Governor Yoon Myun-shik to discuss the mounting military tension between the United States and Iran and its ramifications on the financial and foreign currency markets.
Samsung Electronics announced today that its operational profit for last year was tentatively calculated at 27.71 trillion won, a staggering 52.95% plunge from the previous year.
Starting this May, the Korea Food and Drug Administration will toughen its oversight of health functional foods. The new measures will include studying the correlation and announcing the findings when health functional foods cause abnormal reactions.
With traffic accidents caused by so-called "black ice" on the rise, the government has announced a new set of safety measures, which include doubling the freeze-prone segments and installing 100 meters of under-road heating wires at each of five accident-prone sections.
