An automobile produced by an IT firm, an aircraft manufactured by a car maker... These are some of the tech innovations showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show held in the United States. The tech firms' competition to survive in the future are unfolding in such ingenious ways. There was even a ping-pong match between a human and a robot. Here's how it turned out.

A robot arm that can skillfully return any shot launched at it. It can predict where the ball is headed based on the angle of the paddle and the swing speed. But it fails to return the human opponent's smash. It turns out the robot didn't really miss, but was just trying to make the challenger feel good.

One of the hallmarks of this year's CES is removing barriers among industries. This self-driving electric car was made by Sony, famous for creating the Walkman.

These high-tech vehicles equipped with 5G and artificial intelligence technology demonstrate that automobiles have become smart devices. Cameras replaced side-view mirrors and the footage shot is shown on the monitors inside the car. Each seat has its own speaker, so the driver and the passenger can listen to different music. A personal aircraft from Hyundai Motor. Korea's premier automobile maker plans to increase its aircraft production up to 30%.

This concept car was inspired by the movie "Avatar." Just by placing the hand on the center console the vehicle comes to life, as if it established a connection with the human driver. These scales on the exterior helps maintain balance. Innovation isn't confined to such groundbreaking automobiles. Sometimes small changes in daily life can make a big splash at this year's CES. The electronics show featured the unlikely soy burger, that's designed to cater to the needs of 200-million estimated vegetarians worldwide. Does it belong at an electronics trade show? Food technology was chosen as one of five innovations that will dominate CES. The hallmarks of this year's CES are taking down barriers and breaking molds.
