The government says it will execute 70 percent of the 7.8-trillion-won extra budget before the Chuseok holidays, which begin next Wednesday. Starting today, the government will dole out 500,000 won each to 500,000 freelancers and non-standard contract workers who suffered from job insecurity and reduced income. From Friday, up to two million won of cash payouts will be given to self-employed people and small business owners who were hit by dwindling sales amid the pandemic.
