The court rejected an appeal filed by some conservative activists who were arrested on charges of holding illegal anti-government rallies in Seoul in mid-August. The Seoul Central District Court dismissed the activists' request to review the legality of their arrest on October 7, accusing them of organizing larger-than-reported rallies despite risks of COVID-19 transmission.
Tokyo will likely ease COVID-19 travel restrictions on South Korea. According to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun newspaper, Japan's Foreign Ministry is reviewing lowering the travel restrictions from Level Three to Level Two for South Korea, Singapore, Thailand and China. Once the travel restrictions are relaxed, the countries will also be removed from Japan's list of those subject to entry denials.
