South Korea, China and Japan are lining up to invest in Myanmar, which saw the launch of a civilian government 100 days ago. We bring you to the emerging Southeast Asian nation in our next report.

Various development projects are under way in Myanmar, where the nation's first civilian government was launched in March. Among them is the nation's first special economic zone, which is being developed with joint private funding from Japan in an area 1.4 times larger than Korea's Yeouido island.

Japanese companies are also building factories. South Korea has likewise made advances into Myanmar with efforts led by construction companies, recently winning a contract for factory construction after fierce competition.

[Soundbite] Seogwoo Engineering & Construction Chairman : "We told Japanese companies that we will offer various services across the board, ranging from construction to obtaining permits."

China is carrying out large-scale infrastructure and resource development projects. Chinese investments amount to more than 15.4 billion U.S. dollars.

Although concerns are rising over environmental pollution caused by reckless development, investment competition in Myanmar is expected to grow even fiercer.
