Team Korea held a team welcoming ceremony to mark its arrival at the Rio Olympics. At the ceremony the athletes renewed their determination to help Team Korea finish in the top-ten for medal counts this year.

The Korean national anthem resonates under the skies over Rio de Janeiro for the first time. The Korean national athletes donning white trousers and blue jackets receive a welcome ceremony marking their arrival at the Olympic Village. The team entered the square to Brazilian traditional music performed by a local troupe. After a welcome speech from the chief of the Olympic Village, Janeth Arcain, the national Korean flag was hoisted. Chung Mong-kyu, the head of the Korean national team, presented the Olympic Village with a traditional lacquer jewelry box coated with mother-of-pearl.
[Soundbite] Oh Young-ran(Korean Nat'l Handball Team) : "As far as I remember, it's my first time attending a team welcome ceremony. It's very emotional to me because these Olympics could become the final games in my career. I am determined to do my best."
[Soundbite] Gu Bon-gil(Korean Nat'l Fencing Team) : "When I was listening to the national anthem at the ceremony, I thought that I should make it play again by winning a gold medal."
Comprising 204 athletes who will compete in 24 events, Team Korea is training hard ahead of the Olympics to achieve its goal of finishing in the top 10.
