President Park Geun-hye has had a telephone conversation with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump. Park and Trump have agreed to maintain the strong bilateral alliance and cooperation when it comes to North Korea.

In her phone call to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on the morning of November 10, President Park Geun-hye first of all reaffirmed the importance of bilateral alliance between the two nations. President Park said that the South Korea-U.S. alliance has contributed to building mutual trust as well as promoting peace and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region over the past six decades. She expressed hope that the two nations will strengthen their alliance on more diverse levels. Donald Trump, for his part, said that he agrees 100 percent and that the bilateral alliance between Korea and the U.S. will be unwavering. Park called for strong pressure and sanctions against Pyongyang to counter its nuclear and missile threat.Trump responded by saying that he agrees on that as well 100 percent.

[Soundbite] Chung Yeon-guk(Spokesperson, Cheong Wa Dae) : "The U.S. president-elect said that the United States will be with South Korea 100 percent and will work with Korea closely to protect it from uncertainty in North Korea."

The U.S. president-elect also praised Korean products and his Korean friends by calling them "fantastic people." The South Korean president proposed that Trump visit Korea to hold in-depth talks in the near future. Trump said he looks forward to meeting with Park.
