The floor leaders of the three opposition political parties have drafted a bill together in order to impeach President Park Geun-hye and have agreed to pass it by December 9 at the latest. Let’s find out more.

The floor leaders of the three opposition parties have agreed to process the bill on President Park Geun-hye's impeachment at the plenary parliamentary session. As such, the impeachment bill will be processed as early as December 2 or at the final plenary session on December 9 at the latest.

[Soundbite] Park Ji-won(People's Party) : "The three opposition parties need to cooperate more than ever on President Park Geun-hye's impeachment and other issues."

The parties reached the agreement based on their judgment that the quorum for the impeachment vote had been met. The opposition leaders have also decided to let lawmakers from the ruling party who are in favor of the impeachment participate individually in the drafting process of the impeachment bill. The three opposition parties have also agreed to recommend a special counsel to investigate the Choi Soon-sil scandal. Earlier, the leadership of the Minjoo Party of Korea clearly expressed determination to put aside the issue of the National Assembly's recommendation of a prime minister, and instead focus on the impeachment process.

[Soundbite] Woo Sang-ho(Floor leader, The Minjoo Party of Korea) : "We will put aside other confusing issues in order to focus on the impeachment process."

However, some of the party's mainstream liberal members are opposed to cooperating with the non-mainstream members of the ruling party in carrying out the impeachment process before receiving an apology from the Saenuri Party is wrong. Meanwhile, 158 lawmakers from the ruling and opposition camps introduced a resolution urging the president's orderly resignation and measures to prevent a power vacuum, and demanded that the Whole House Committee be convened.
