In response to a question about the effects that the political situation in South Korea could have on the Seoul-Washington alliance, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said that the security alliance between South Korea and the U.S. remains firm and unwavering. He repeatedly stressed the importance of the alliance, which he said has been maintained and strengthened despite administration changes in both countries.

Previously, the State Department also reaffirmed the solid alliance between the two countries, saying that South Korea remains a steadfast friend and partner, and that the U.S.' alliance commitments will not change. Regarding the current political situation in South Korea, the U.S. made it clear that it's an issue that the Korean people should resolve by themselves. It appears that Washington is paying close attention to developments in South Korea, as it was said that the U.S. embassy in Seoul is continuing to contact South Korean officials every day.
