Yoo Jae-seok and Park Shin-hye have been known for their philanthropic activities for quite a while. Recently, they donated more than 40,000 dollars each to help vendors at the Seomun Market in Daegu where a massive fire occurred last month.

[Soundbite] Staff from Disaster Relief Association Hope Bridge : "Park Shin-hye and Yoo Jae-seok have been donating for years now, but they wanted to remain anonymous. The entire amount of their combined donations will be delivered to vendors who suffered damage due to a blaze in the Seomun Market."

According to the Babsang Community Welfare Foundation, Yoo Jae-seok has been donating money to buy charcoal briquettes to the needy since 2013. This year, he donated more than 40,000 dollars to the charcoal briquette bank, which was enough to buy some 83,000 briquettes for the underprivileged. Singer Psy has donated more than 80,000 dollars for the restoration of the Seomun Market in Daegu. Singer Sean, who is known for his extraordinary charitable activities, has donated 10,000 charcoal briquettes and participated in their transportation personally.

[Soundbite] Heo Ki-bok(Babsang Community Welfare Foundation) : "Sean has volunteered to transport charcoal briquettes not only in Seoul but even on Ulleungdo Island last year. Thanks to his volunteer work, underprivileged people can stay warm during the cold winter months."

Actor Kim Bo-sung, who recently held martial arts matches, has promised to donate all of his fight money and proceeds from the competition to helping treat children afflicted with cancer.

[Soundbite] Kim Bo-sung(Actor) : "I ask for your support so that we can save as many young lives as possible. Justice for ill children! Justice!"

Even though it was a challenge for the fifty-something actor to compete in fights, he had trained hard for over a year and staged quite an impressive performance. But he had to give up the competition in the middle at the referee's advice, because he sustained an injury to his right orbital bone. The actor was already visually impaired in his left eye.

[Soundbite] Kim Bo-sung's Agency : "He received a medical exam in the emergency room of a general hospital and was diagnosed with orbital fracture. He decided to undergo surgery after taking some rest. He will donate all proceeds from the competition to children suffering from cancer."

Thanks to these noble acts of famous celebrities, Korean society can enjoy a more heartwarming holiday season.
